Engine 252

Central Avenue and Decatur St

The century-old Engine 252 on Central and Covert is a fire station that dates back to 1897, when a growing Bosjwick began to feel the need for more fire protection services. Municipal fire protection was still a relatively new concept. In 1900, Brooklyn merged with the rest of the cities of New York to form the five boroughs and Engine 252 (it was renamed in order to distinguish it from the Bronx’s Engine 152) officially joined the FDNY. During the fires of 70s and 80s Engine 252 was called to extinguish over The station has been a landmark since 2013. Peep this photo of the firemen of Engine 252 circa 1920-1920.
